An unpublished writer drives through the outback in search of inspiration when he breaks down. Dehydrated, delusional and nearing death, he reflects on the life he had and the pregnant girlfriend he may have murdered...
A dedicated and committed team travelled out to the edge of the Nullarbor Plain in remote Western Australia, with the vision to capture an artistic, surreal, confronting and thrilling short-form narrative. The project required the 2D Films team to work within a finite budget to achieve a cinematic vision for writer/director Adam Graveley, with a single anamorphic prime lens being chosen to capture the entire narrative.
The stylistic choice to capture the stark beauty of the harsh terrain and the landscape of the human face all with a single lens was a challenge and creative choice that made for a great, collaborative and educational shooting experience.
Taking up the challenge of working within the heat, dust, flies and extreme light conditions of the Australian Outback, with minimum crew and limited time and resources was a great undertaking and somewhat of a filmmaking experiment with many rewards. Have a look at the finished product and the BTS images to get an idea of the challenges and outcome for this rewarding project.
